About our pastor
Elder Melvin T. Brown, Pastor of Restoration & Praise Christian Fellowship Center, is a man of sincere faith who has a genuine love for God's people and honors the call the Lord has placed upon him to share the gospel of Christ with others. After growing up in the A.M.E church as a youth, he went astray for several years as a young adult, but returned to the Lord in the summer of 1991 when he felt God beckoning his return to faith. This profound time of God's love and revelation encouraged him to change his life forever, establish a relationship with Christ and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The Lord led him to join Greater Love Church of God in Christ where he served faithfully for over ten years in many capacities. Pastor Brown received the call to preach God's word in 1995 and, with the approval of his Pastor, Superintendent Charles J. Brantley, he was licensed as a Minister in the Church of God in Christ later that year. In June of 1997, while being faithful in service as a minister, he was recommended by his Pastor to the Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop E.L. Sheppard, for ordination as an Elder. The recommendation to the Bishop was approved and, after successfully passing the State Board Exam, he was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in July of 1997 at the 77th Annual Holy Convocation of the Western Florida Jurisdiction in Orlando, Florida. As an Elder, Pastor Brown continued in the work he was already faithfully doing and was also appointed as an Administrative Elder to work directly with his Pastor in overseeing the men of the church. His work during his tenure at Greater Love included leading the Street Ministry, being President of Ward Joy (a membership auxiliary), a Trustee Board member, and the Men's Class Sunday School Teacher.
In 2001, with his Pastor's blessing, Pastor Brown moved forward with the call to pastor and began Restoration & Praise Christian Fellowship Center, "The Ministry with God's People at Heart," where souls are continuing to be blessed and fed. As a Pastor, Pastor Brown has a vision to see God's will fulfilled through effective ministry. He knows the importance of restoring people, saving souls and giving people purpose and direction in their lives. He is committed to going that extra mile to guide persons to wholeness and completeness in Christ and provide a ministry where there is total freedom to worship and praise God. It is his sincere desire that every member of Restoration and Praise Christian Fellowship Center be an overcomer and have victory in their life through Jesus Christ! Pastor Brown is truly one of the kindest and gentlest souls you will ever meet and is genuine in his love for God's people and his love for Christ.
On a personal note, Pastor Brown received his education from Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Florida; Prairie View A & M University in Prairie View, Texas; C. H. Mason Bible College in Tallahassee; and the Tallahassee Bible Institute in Tallahassee. He has received many accolades, professionally and personally, and is very active in the Tallahassee community. Along with his passion for ministry, he is an avid sports fan and loves to cheer the local teams. Upon his retirement from his secular job, he plans to pursue an advanced degree in theological studies. He has been married to our First Lady, Stephanie Brown, since 1992 and has two beautiful children; a daughter and a son.
Pastor Brown and First Lady are a blessing to this congregation in their dedication, teaching and preaching the uncompromised word of God, and the spirit of excellence they have for ministry!
